Head shotThanks for stopping by.

I use this space to share my thoughts and insights into the context of the Bible. I’m passionate about ancient stories and have dedicated my life to understanding languages that are thousands of years old. Yeah, I’m that guy.

See, I’m passionate about bringing life to a part of the Bible that many have disregarded as irrelevant and hard to understand. We often dismiss the Old Testament because we find it dry, confusing, and harsh. But there’s a richness we are missing; a message of hope and love that would be a shame to ignore. The Bible—the whole Bible—is relevant and practical to our everyday lives and we are missing out because we don’t understand the context. I hope you’ll join me in my pursuit of understanding the context of God’s word so we can be the strongest leaders possible for the church.

When I’m not studying dead languages, I live in the real world where I’m a teacher, author, husband and father. I founded The Pillar Seminary in Omaha, Nebraska, where I get to spend time with pastors, who are some of the most awesome people on the planet as far as I’m concerned. The goal of Pillar is simple: we want to make pastors better. We give them the tools they need to thrive in their roles as Bible teachers and organizational leaders. I speak frequently at churches on topics like Old Testament Law and Exodus. Through my speaking and my book, Jesus Prequel, I hope to bring new understanding to the connection between the Old Testament and the New Testament and how God wants us to live today.

  1. Eric,

I have been reading your blogs and I am loving them! I am so grateful that God has called you to study the Old Testament and teach people about what He has shown you through His word!

I am so stoked because God has opened up a door to your Seminary School and I am walking through it and seeing if this is what God has for me! I grew up with Scott Booths brother David (who is going through your school now) and he told me about Pillar and I am getting all my ducks in a row!

Have a good one and I look forward to your next blog post!
